- Railway crossings: slow down, look and listen, and be ready to stop. Buses and certain placarded trucks must stop at every crossing. Never start across unless there is room to clear the tracks completely on the far side, and do not change gears while on the tracks.
- School crossings and crossovers: stop and yield to children and the crossing guard; do not proceed until the crossing is clear.
- Stopped school buses: when a chrome-yellow school bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm out, stop. On an undivided road all traffic stops from both directions; on a divided road only traffic approaching from behind the bus must stop.
🧠 Memory hook: "Clear the far side before you start." Never enter a crossing or intersection you cannot fully exit.
Recall: Before crossing railway tracks, what must you confirm about the far side? On a divided road, which traffic must stop for a stopped school bus?
