Technical Requirements
- Browser: Chrome or Safari ONLY (no Firefox, Edge, or others)
- Device: Desktop computer, laptop, or tablet
- Webcam: Required, system takes random photos during the test
- Internet: Stable connection required
- ID: Valid photo ID with signature (e.g., driver's licence, PR card, or provincial photo ID)
During the Test
- The 45-minute countdown begins when you click "Start the test"
- You cannot pause the timer once started
- You get a warning when 5 minutes remain
- After 45 minutes, the test auto-submits even if unfinished
- You can review and change answers before the timer expires
Prohibited During Testing
- ❌ Looking at study materials
- ❌ Using a second device
- ❌ Having another person in the room
- ❌ Wearing headphones or earbuds
- ❌ Leaving the webcam view
If Something Goes Wrong
- If you lose internet or your browser crashes, email the address in your test invitation
- IRCC will typically reschedule within 4–8 weeks
- You can take the test from a public library or on a public computer
- You do NOT need to be in Canada to take the online test
